Beach Hop 2016
City of Sails Rock ‘n’ Roll Club Rock on Down to the Beach Hop
[dropcap]C[/dropcap]ity of Sails Club Members never miss an opportunity to test out their dancing shoes, especially when it is Beach Hop time. A strong contingent of City of Sails Members headed to Whangamata for the 2014 Beach Hop.
The Whangamata Beach Hop has become one of the most popular Rock ‘n’ Roll events on the calendar, with the population reputedly swelling during the three day event.
City of Sails is well represented, with many Members attending dances on the Friday and Saturday.
Club Members treated the public to an excellent display of Rock ‘n’ Roll dancing in the Parade along Port road on the Saturday, along with many Rock ‘n’ Roll clubs from around New Zealand.
Once the parade is over, Port Road is filled with beautifully restored muscle cars of all types and is absolute heaven for any petrol head. Competitors face fierce too! With cars presented at the top of their game.
No Club Members were lucky enough to be cruising back to Auckland in a new hot rod or towing a new retro caravan though; the two prizes that could be won over the weekend, as they went to two other lucky event attendees. Always next year I guess. Their certainly will be a next year too! With plans already underway to attend next years event.
